We will champion smart city innovation and actively support the development of a Hobart smart
city community plan that embraces the best of brand digital technology to build social connectedness.
The key focus for the HCC over the next 12 months is the creation of the Smart City Alliance Innovation Precinct. The innovation precinct will be a physical space, an ‘Intelligent City Living Lab’ that the City will develop in partnership with UTAS. It will allow Hobart City to build and test multiple solutions in consultation with the community. Some ideas currently on the table include developing mobile apps to provide notifications to residents about, for example, rivulet levels and traffic; interactive touch screen Information kiosks; extending public Wi-Fi and improved digital wayfinding that will allow people to use their phones to follow and find city locations and services such as public amenities and art installations.
